The 35th annual Tribute Evening honored The Physicians of Cardiology, P.C. Joseph Battaglia, MD; William Berkery, MD; James Longo, MD; Anthony Navone, MD; Kwabena Boahene, MD; Matthew Gorman, MD; and Anil George, MD were recognized for their significant contribution to Crouse Hospital and the thousands of lives they positively affect each year.
Their success story was shared at Tribute Evening 2011 on Friday, Sept. 16 at the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at The Oncenter. The black-tie event featured an extended reception, gourmet dinner, tribute presentation, and a showcase performance by Emmy-Award winning a capella group Tonic Sol-fa. Guests enjoyed dancing to Nik Lite. The highlight of the evening was the salute to the Physicians of Cardiology, P.C.
Each of these seven physicians is an accomplished practitioner who has used their excellent skills to save countless lives in Central New York. Consistently praised for their caring and expertise, the Physicians of Cardiology, P.C. are a vital part of Crouse Hospital’s nationally accredited Chest Pain Center. The center has received the highest possible accreditation for treatment of chest pain from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. Crouse is the only hospital in the region and one of only four in New York State to earn this designation. The physicians, along with the entire cardiac care team, were instrumental in Crouse receiving Cycle I Heart Failure Accreditation status from the Society, the first hospital in New York State to achieve this designation and only one of 35 in the United States with the accreditation. Crouse is the only hospital in New York State with dual heart failure and chest pain accreditation.
The Physicians of Cardiology, P.C. were instrumental in Crouse Hospital’s cardiac quality being recognized nationally by the American Heart Association’s “Get with the Guidelines” Silver Award for performance excellence in 2006 and 2007 and its Gold Award for outstanding performance in 2009. Crouse’s accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) further demonstrates the Physicians of Cardiology, P.C.’s commitment to quality cardiac care.
Tribute Evening 2011 proceeds will be used to support the work of Crouse Health Foundation including purchasing special equipment, underwriting new initiatives, and funding educational programs and scholarships.
